May 21, 2020—In a move to maximize safety while still offering a college experience to high school students, Marist College is moving its top ranked Summer Pre-College Program online.

A long-time leader in online education, Marist has also been recognized by U.S. News as a “Most Innovative School” for the past two years. The Summer Pre-College program was ranked as Top 30 Pre-College Program for 2019 by College Consensus.

“We recognize high school students have been going through a tumultuous time and that many summer opportunities have been canceled. While we cannot offer our fully in-person Summer Pre-College experience, we’re confident our online courses will provide students with a strong sense what a Marist education offers while they earn college credits and gain experience to help guide them in their college search,” said Jaclyn Sager, Director of Marist Summer Pre-College.

The Virtual Summer Pre-College program will run for three weeks, July 6-24. If state policy allows, Marist is also planning to offer an optional on-campus experience the weekend of July 24 - 26 where students will participate in social activities, get a campus tour, and experience life in the Hudson River Valley.

The programs being offered span a variety of topic areas:

·  Business

·  Creative Writing

·  Cybersecurity

·  Digital Media

·  Game Design

·  Fashion Merchandising

·  Pre-Health

·  Pre-Law

The cost for the online program is $1,500 and students will earn 3 transferable college credits. All courses are taught by Marist faculty and will utilize the College’s learning management system, iLearn. Application information is available here.
